Term 2 Update
Hello to the families and students of Room 16! We have had a
very busy term working together and achieving wonderful accomplishments! Here
are some photographs of what we have been up to.
Class meetings are a very important opportunity for students
to voice their opinions and make a change around the school. Through this class
meeting, the students decided they would like to take on promoting ‘No Throw
Tuesday’ around the school. As a class, we had a busy afternoon creating and
putting up posters to help Wattle Grove Primary School become more sustainable.
We will continue focusing on promoting ‘No Throw Tuesday’ next semester.
This
term, we have been focusing on fairytales and poetry for Big Write. Recently,
the students wrote Cinquain poems which were inspired by living things, as this
is part of our current Science topic. Above are some examples of poetry by
students in Room 16.
Earlier this term, the students researched a planet of their
choice as part of a class project. They also designed and created a 3D model
which had to resemble the size and appearance of their chosen planet. This was
a very enjoyable activity and a great opportunity to learn more about the solar
system!
Well done to all students for delivering such amazing Super
Scientist presentations! Congratulations Jensen and Haritha for making it to
the Year 3 finals, and Haritha for being chosen as the overall finalist! I am
so impressed with all of your hard work.
This term, we are
focusing on Biological Science. Here, the students are looking at different
types of leaves and classifying them. We have been learning about the
characteristics of living things such as animals and plants.
In Numeracy, the students have been very excited to expand
their knowledge of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics
and Probability. Recently, we have been focusing on division, multiplication
and learning how to add and subtract dollars and cents. Division has been a
favourite topic amongst the students and they are very excited to learn more
about it next semester!
Keep up the amazing work, Room 16! I have been very
impressed with your efforts this term. Keep an eye on the blog for future
updates.
